Beginner’s Photography Workshop

Introduction to DSLR Photography


If you are ready to move from “AUTO” and control your camera, this is the right class for you!  This hands on workshop covers the operation of your camera, in manual and semiautomatic modes, composition and creativity.  You will be able to control the ISO,  Aperture, Depth of Field, Shutter Speed and a lot more.


We will go over some basic recipes to get you started, i.e. sports, kids, pets, groups, etc.  You'll get enough tools to experiment and set the camera on your own and get different effects.


A DSLR or mirrowless DSLR camera is needed for the workshop.  Any brand is fine.  Small group classes ensure personalized attention (max 10).


Wednesdays, April 12, 19 & 26  or  Tuesday, May 2, 9 & 16

Part 1

portrait Photography course


To photograph real people, requires skills that you may not need to

photograph a beautiful ceramic pot.


You not only need the right equipment, but need to learn how to  interact

with your models.


This course is for persons that are already able to operate their camera in manual and semi-manual modes and want to learn how to photograph

family and friends during trips or when they come to visit.


For the class, you will need a camera with manual controls, a normal or long lense (50 mm or more).  A tripod and a reflector are optional.

"An easy way to improve your Images"


It is not only about managing the camera from a technical point of view, compositions is also very important before taking a photo, in a way, it is like painting or drawing...


There is a lot of room for creativity...but you will be surprised how much better your photo will be if you follow some simple composition rules:

First decide what the main element in your photo is, second think about the background and finally apply one or more rules of composition, Rule of Thirds, Leading Lines, Symmetry, Patterns, Framing, Cropping, Textures, Rules of Odds, Negative Space, Point of View and more...


And once you know the rules... break them and find your own style...


Any camera, including the one on your mobile phone are OK for the class!

"Perfect for trips or just when walking in the city..."


You will get a mix of technical and creative skills.


We will discuss how to compose a Landscape, from a creative point of view, then we will talk about the best lenses for landscapes, and discuss how to use them!  And finally we will talk about the camera settings that work best!


You will need a camera with manual controls and a wide angle lens!
